Mines United FC End Away Winless Run, with Historic Away Victory in Choma
Mines United FC have finally broken their Zambia Premier League (ZPL) away drought after recording their first away win of the season, edging past Green Eagles 1–0 away in Choma.
The newly promoted side came into the fixture having gone 15 games without an away win since stepping up from the lower division. Their long wait for victory ended in emphatic fashion in their 16th league outing, and in one of the most difficult venues in Zambian football.
The decisive moment came in the 12th minute, when Patrick Simwinga found the back of the net to hand Mines United a priceless lead. The visitors then showed discipline and resilience to defend their advantage and secure all three points.
Choma is widely regarded as a tough hunting ground, with very few teams managing to leave with maximum points. Mines United’s success on the road makes the victory even more significant and could mark a turning point in their ZPL campaign.
With confidence finally restored, Mines United will be hoping this landmark win signals the start of improved performances on the road and results as they fight to climb away from the lower reaches of the table.
